This was the intriguing puzzle we faced when tasked with conceptualizing a truly remarkable birthday event for Tiësto. While the usual traditions of massive cakes, sparklers and champagne, followed by a fireworks show had marked his previous birthdays at Hakkasan, this year, we aimed to go above and beyond, to create an unforgettable experience that would leave the DJ himself speechless.
The idea I proposed was audacious to some—to approach the County Commissioner's Office and inquire about the possibility of bestowing upon Tiësto a Key to the City, specifically, the illustrious Las Vegas Strip. In that room filled with doubt and skepticism, few believed it could be achieved.
Yet, against all odds, our audacious concept became the cornerstone of the most extraordinary birthday event that Tiësto had ever witnessed.
The spectacular evening kicked off with a tremendous celebration at the MGM Grand on January 14th. Tiësto made his grand entrance rolling up in a brand new Aston Martin to a huge crowd waiting for him while the UNLV marching band, assembled in the hotel lobby, struck up a melodious rendition of "Red Lights".
Surrounded by the music, a bevy of Tiësto dancers added to the scene, dancing around the band. Towering statues adorned with Tiësto's emblem and crowned with sparklers illuminated the surroundings..
This memorable evening marked a historic turning point, as January 14th was officially proclaimed "Tiësto Day" in the city of Las Vegas, a testament to the DJ's undeniable influence and significance.
But the festivities didn't end there. In a move that took everyone by surprise, the County Commissioner took it a step further by presenting Tiësto with an honorary key to the Las Vegas Strip itself.
